Mindful: Sketch books are (also) for over 21s.

Creating a sketch book at 21 is like a box of Quality Streets.

Shiny, quite random what you’ll end up with, rather meaning less and a grown up attempt at Christmas Day and life in general. From a personal perspective nothing has felt as liberating since I took up sketch booking. The joy of a meaningless scribble pared with the aestheticism of nearly done but equally chaotic pages is in paralleled.

Since when did we stop mark making and caring about achieving something not of purpose of with great direction and magnitude. I urge every self respecting 20 year old to designate a sketch book, note book or in the very least a piece of paper and start doodling. It’s very liberating, think of the feeling of a new tattoo without the permanence.

There's more to art than an instagram photo.

Daunted by the task of starting? Look no further than a biro and a highlighter for the in experienced artist. Branch out further with Posca pens for the power of ink to fully flourish. Feeling fancy; rip the page, add a window, concertina it. Layer to your hearts content. In the incredibly corny words of my old art project, it’s truly a kaleidoscope of colour. Wow.
